Got a call late thursday afternoon if I could arrange/produce a song for Mensenkinderen in the evening. The EO (a national broadcasting station) had asked for a song to accompany lyrics that Bas wrote.
We started working on the track at 8:00 pm and finished the basic arrangement at 12:30 am. Recorded some analog synths, ac guitars, bass, vocals and drums. The next day I started mixing and adding elements. Mayor part of the track is the 808 drums and the various percussive sounds I made out of other sounds.
I asked Lula Bir if she would like to do some vocals on the track and luckily she could come to the studio on monday! She has such a nice, slightly melancholic tone that fitted the track just right. Really happy with how that turned out!
On tuesday I finished mixing the song and asked Jan Borger for feedback and mastering. He was really positive on the work done and wanted to master the song. Due to a really tight deadline and some a busy schedule he wasn’t able to do it in the end, but he gave some great advise on how to master the song. So I spend a good part of wednesday tweaking tiny amounts of eq on the mastering, trying to get the track as good as I could possibly get it.
If you want to support Mensenkinderen, you can buy the track via the buy link download it in various high quality formats:)
